Scrap and recycling management software

Weighment, material grades, supplier payments and stock on one transaction.

KaizenSpark Tech builds scrap and recycling management systems — weighbridge capture, material grading, supplier and customer records, purchase and sale transactions, stock by grade and the reporting underneath it — for yards where the weighment slip and the ledger are currently two different records.

What this page is. Described from the problems operators in this sector actually bring us, and from systems we have built for them. Clients are withheld under confidentiality, so what follows covers the problem, the solution and the capability rather than the customer. More of our work is on our solutions.

Who it is for

Does this sound like your operation?

A scrap dealer, recycler or waste processor buying by weight and grade, where the weighment slip, the payment and the stock position are reconciled by hand.

What it looks like

Kaizen Scrap, the product behind this.

The same system, shown as it would be configured for this sector. An illustration, not a screenshot.

Interface illustration, drawn with this site’s own design tokens. Sample figures, not a running system.

The problem

What usually brings someone to us.

01

The weighment slip is the only record

It is written at the bridge and keyed in later, if at all, and disputes have no audit trail.

02

Material grades are decided informally

The rate applied depends on who was at the gate, and margin cannot be analysed by grade.

03

Supplier payments run on trust and a notebook

Advances, deductions and balances are tracked outside any system.

04

Stock by grade is unknown

What is in the yard is an estimate, so selling decisions are made on instinct.

05

Purchase and sale rates are not compared

Nobody can see the margin per material per month without assembling it manually.

06

Compliance paperwork is assembled after the fact

Transport and regulatory documents are reconstructed rather than produced by the process.

What we build

What the system would cover.

01

Weighment capture

Gross, tare and net recorded against the vehicle and the supplier at the gate.

02

Grades and rates

Material categories with their own rates, deductions and quality parameters.

03

Supplier and customer ledger

Advances, deductions, balances and payment history on one record.

04

Stock by grade

What is in the yard, by material and grade, moved by transactions rather than counts.

05

Purchase and sale margin

Rate in against rate out, per material, per period.

06

Documents

Weighment slips, purchase vouchers and sale invoices produced by the transaction.

Integrations

What it would connect to.

Weighbridge indicators where the hardware supports a serial or network feed, accounting software for the financial posting, and SMS or WhatsApp for supplier confirmations. Hardware integration is confirmed against your specific equipment before it is scoped.

How a build runs

The same five stages, whatever the sector.

01

Trace

We follow the work as it runs today and write it down — where the hours go, where data is re-keyed, where errors enter.

02

Scope

Deliverables, integration points, phases and an explicit out-of-scope list, agreed in writing before any code exists.

03

Build

Working software in reviewable increments, with a running environment you can open at any point during the build.

04

Measure

Type checks, automated tests and a manual pass on the paths that matter.

05

Improve

Architecture notes and runbooks ship with the build, then we keep reading the numbers with you.

06

What comes as standard

Written scope, documented handover, and IP transferred to you on final payment. Not extras.

Questions

What people ask before commissioning this.

Can it read our weighbridge directly?
Often yes, but it depends entirely on the indicator model and what it exposes. We confirm against your actual equipment before scoping it, because a wrong assumption here is expensive.
Can we set different rates per supplier for the same material?
Yes. Rate tables by material, grade and supplier are the normal requirement in this trade.
Does it handle advances and deductions?
Yes, as part of the supplier ledger rather than as a separate sheet — that separation is usually where the disputes come from.
We work largely in cash. Does that matter?
Not to the system. It records the transaction and the payment mode; how you settle is a commercial and compliance question for you and your accountant, not a software one.
