Four ways to work with us, and how to tell which one you need.
Most clients start with discovery and move into a build. Programme and retained arrangements follow from there. You do not have to pick correctly — that is what the first call is for.
Fixed fee
Discovery
Interviews with the people doing the work, a written map of the current process, bottlenecks identified and costed, technical options with trade-offs, and a phased estimate for the build.
Pick this if the problem is clear but the solution is not.
Fixed scope
Build
Priced per phase from the discovery estimate. Working software in reviewable increments, a running environment you can open at any point, tests and pre-release checks, architecture notes and runbooks, and team training at handover.
Pick this if scope is agreed and ready to ship.
Monthly
Retained
Rolling, with an agreed notice period. Maintenance, iteration and support on systems that are already live and earning.

Several builds sequenced over a longer horizon, where the pieces depend on each other and the order matters as much as the work.

Every one of these includes the written scope, the out-of-scope list, code review, runbooks and IP transfer. Those are not line items.

The honest summary: hire in-house when the work is permanent and continuous. Use a larger agency when you need scale or a compliance function. Use us when you need a specific system built properly, handed over, and off your cost base when it is done.

What happens on the first call?
You describe the process and the constraints. We tell you the shape of engagement it needs and roughly what that costs, including when the honest answer is that you do not need us. There is no deck.
Will you tell us not to build?
Yes. Pointing automation at a broken process just makes the mess arrive faster. If the fix is a process change or a cheaper off-the-shelf tool, that is what we will say — including when it costs us the work.
Do we have to replace our tools?
Usually not. Much of the value is in connecting systems you already pay for. We recommend replacing a tool only when keeping it costs more than moving off it.
Who owns the code?
You do, on final payment. Pre-existing components and open-source dependencies are listed with their licences at handover, so you know what you own outright and what you hold under licence.
